A Little More Than A Decade, and A Time to Live in Such as This

Flowing within the tapestry of history, we find God’s will for creation moving as a current and unstoppable force through time. This divine current touches one generation after another, weaving its way through our lives. As the breath lives within its spoken word, it assures its return back to God with its work complete. It does not return to Him void, and it does not return to Him with its work incomplete.

As dawn set forth on the horizon and the breaking of day still lingered beyond the darkness, I found myself dwelling in peaceful solace, pondering a thought of revelation that the Lord had inspired:

Dr. King’s year of death would have preceded my birth year by just a little more than a decade, and as pondering thoughts continued to emerge, from this perspective I could not help but find many of them intriguing. You see, it’s intriguing how intentional God is at times – and how He allows the impossible to become possible.

There is nothing that He can’t do, and there is something greater that He has placed on the inside of you. I assure you that He has, Beloved; I assure you that He has. Just as He created the greatness of the stars and the moon, He has created a greatness and assigned it to you, too.

Your life has purpose, and God has given you meaning. It is He who has given you your assignment, and it is He who created and called you for such a time as this.

Had he lived until the time of our births, a little over a decade later, my baby ears and my wife’s would have been able to hear as we hear today: the sound of Dr. King’s voice in the present.

What we do today matters. I tell you, Beloved, that it matters in a very profound way. So, what will it be? How will you choose to change the course of history, and how will you choose to allow what -and who – has been and lived with purpose to inspire and empower you?

Because God has planted seeds of greatness on the inside of you, it’s going to be up to you, and you alone, to choose what type of tree you want to be. Plant yourself by the river of His counsel and wisdom, Beloved, and there, flourish, blossom, and grow. Let your roots find their home in good soil and let your fruit blossom and grow, for this season is your season to speak up and make a difference; and this season is the season that God has chosen for you to live, for such a time as this.

As one walks within this life, they leave behind a trail of pathways that others may follow after them, and as the trails are blazed by the trailblazers, it is the influence of their legacy that will continue to inspire the future pioneers. We dream and pursue our dreams today because Dr. King dreamed with God’s vision and perspective for our world; and we live with more liberty and progress because he decided to live as a crusader for justice and freedom.

God has empowered and given you the seeds of greatness that will produce His glory within the earth. It’s going to be up to you, Beloved, to choose what type of tree that you want to be.
